Welcome to Viola Treasures

Viola Treasures, established in 2021, is an online store where something once overlooked gets a second life.

I’ve worn recycled apparel since I was a child. Shopping at thrift stores and accepting clothes and other items from other people was a normal part of life for my family. When family, friends, and even strangers asked where I got my things, I answered proudly: “The trash,” or “The thrift store.” It wasn’t always like that. Kids sometimes teased me about my mother picking through trash and taking hand-me-downs, until my grandmother told me, “They wish they had what you have: love, beauty, and a grandmother and a mom who are artists and can turn trash into treasure.” There was no shame in our game after that.

My vision for Viola Treasures is to keep my grandmother’s spirit alive through the beauty she saw in other people’s hand-me-downs. Our online shop is filled with pre-owned, new, and vintage clothing, accessories, toys, electronics, and furniture, all chosen to put a smile on your face.

• Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org): my mother was diagnosed with vascular dementia at 56½, and they helped me understand and navigate it and could assist

• Women Against Abuse (womenagainstabuse.org): I am a survivor of domestic violence, and they were a great resource on my journey.

• Juvenile Law Center (jlc.org): they provide resources to families and youth, including my own, who need help navigating the system.

That small 1% helps a family in need, and that is always a treasure in my book.
